I’ve come to think of myself as a ‘thought gardener’. I help people to sow and nurture the seeds of what they want in their lives (be it better health, happiness, success) and to weed out the thoughts and beliefs that hold them back from reaching their full potential.

As a keen gardener the analogy of life being like a garden is reflected to me daily as I look out my window and see what’s thriving (and what’s not) in the vegetable plot. For example, I see the benefit of weeding and soil preparation and I often relate this to my ‘inner garden’ – seeing negative thoughts as weeds, finding successful ways to nurture new projects to fruition or rejuvenate certain areas of my life. I see it in my client’s lives also.

In fact I so love this approach, that I’m taking it to a new level. It’s my pleasure to announce that on Wednesday 14th November I will be launching my new website www.thethoughtgardener.com

So, if you want to know how to get your life to bloom and how to weed out your blocks to success and happiness please join me there from next Wednesday. There will be articles, blog posts, videos and meditations on effectively using tools such as EFT and the Law Of Attraction (LOA) in your life. I will, of course, still be providing one-2-one sessions for clients to work with me directly and there are some new products in the pipeline – so watch this space.

I’d also love your feedback, so I can develop the site in a way that works for you. What topics would you like to read about? If you are using LOA or EFT, are there places where you get stuck? Do you try to be positive and focus on what you want but end up disappointed? How can I best help YOU?

Drop me a comment and let me know what you think.

With love,

I fact, as Abraham says, everything we want, is really because we think we will feel better in the having of it.

Often, we put conditions on feeling good e.g. ” I’ll feel good when XXX … I get that job, that car, have more time, have less to do etc”.

We can find ourselves waiting .. waiting for the weekend, the sunshine, the holidays? Waiting for that reason to feel good?

Yet, we CAN train ourselves to feel good regardless of the external situation – before getting the job, car, money, relationship, dress size etc and once we can do that – we are truly free.

Well, wait no longer – there are great ways to tap into feeling good right here and now (and of course, there are ways to help attract those wanted things – but that’s a story for another day).

So, how DO we turn on the feel-good factor?

Here are my top 5 tips

1. Find the feeling place: Think of having the thing you want and how it will feel when you get it. What is the emotion that comes up? The feeling? Tune into that feeling e.g. peace, joy, excitement …. and milk it. You can also imagine or remember times that felt great – lovely holidays, beautiful places, uplifting events – and then milk those memories to get you feeling great.

2. Find reasons to be happy anyway: A great Abraham example is the woman with arthritis who asks how she can be happy whilst in such pain and Abe says you can have arthritis and be angry / depressed OR you can have arthritis and be hopeful / optimistic. In essence that is true – you can change your reaction to a situation / see it differently / make peace with it. It really is a choice. Ask yourself if you COULD be happy anyway? (You can use EFT and the Abraham-Hicks processes to easily help to shift how you see things and change your reactions).

3. Fake it to make it: pretend to be happy and feeling good – smile, laugh and your body will respond as if it is real. Try it. Laughter is great medicine and helps your body release endorphins (the body’s feel-good chemicals). There are now online laughter groups (such as the wonderful skype laughter club) and local laughter yoga events, so, even if your friends aren’t a laugh a minute, you can easily get a hearty laugh.

laughter = feel great

4. Appreciate what IS going right in your life right now (see blog on the Art of Appreciation). It is easy to forget what we already have, whether it’s good friends, good food, good health, great architecture, nature, technology. Take time to tune into the good stuff. The more you notice it, the more of it you’ll see in your life.

5. Last, but by no means least: Use EFT tapping to clear out those ‘reasons’ why you don’t feel good yet e.g. for needing a situation to change before you can feel happy. You can start with the set up phrase “Even though I need this job / car (insert applicable) in order to be happy, I’m willing to deeply and completely love and accept myself exactly as I am.”

You can also use tapping techniques, such as the Choices Method (more on that shortly) to affirm choosing positive feelings, once you have tapped out the main issue.

Last month I did my 30 days of Appreciation challenge and one of the things that struck me most was the power of ‘bite sized’ appreciations. Finding 30 seconds to notice things to feel good about was really effective – and it was really easy to do that several times in the day, even if I was really busy. For example, I could step outside and hear the birds singing or go pet the dog for a minute.

There's always time to cuddle Sally

I tried the same with meditation. Just talking 30 seconds, a minute or 5 to connect with my breath and sit quietly. I really felt the difference even after 30 seconds. So, the bottom line is that it really doesn’t take much to change how you feel – for the better. For example, if you’re daunted by the idea of 20 minutes meditation a day – start small. You can always build up over time. Of course, going ‘bite sized’ also works for studying, snacking and exercising (try dancing to your favourite music for just one track and feel the benefit).

Bite size snacks from the garden

There are plenty of guided meditations that are only 5 minutes long and if you tap, even 5 minutes a day will pay dividends.

Of course, if you have 5 minutes to spare you could always do Donna Eden’s 5 minute energy routine to get your vibrations really humming (see resources section for details).

Not convinced? Try going ‘bite sized’ for yourself. Pick one thing that can help you feel better and brighter, that you can try for 1 – 5 minutes a day. Do it every day for a week and note how you feel before and afterwards. You could be pleasantly surprised.

I’m a great believer in the power of appreciation. By focusing intentionally on something we like, we tune ourselves to seeing more of what we like in our world.

When we are in a moment of appreciating something, we raise our energies and vibration – bottom line – we feel good when we think of good things. Whether it’s something we’re experiencing in the moment (good company, beautiful surroundings, an uplifting event), or something that we’ve already experienced or want to experience in the future, appreciation is an art form worth embracing.

Here are my top tips.

Start with easy subjects.

Get curious. What makes you smile? What makes your heart sing? For some it’s children playing, animals, or close friends. For others it’s sunsets, favorite memories, music or art.

My cute cat

What moves you? What is a wonderful thing to have in the world? What’s the favorite thing in your home?

My favorite teapot

It MUST feel good when you think of it.

If you’re feeling less than wonderful when you’re focusing on the subject, then you’re not in appreciation. So, if thinking of the dream house you want just upsets you – try something easier.

Milk it.

Once you know what ‘works’ for you, milk it. Whether it’s a place or person, ramp up that warm fuzzy feeling, so you know you can come back to it again and again.

Our first summer in our field

Make it vivid.

Use all your senses. Appreciate in technicolour, note the feel, the sounds, smells and the positive emotions that bubble up.

Vibrant dianthus

So, put it to the test. See how many things you can find to appreciate and write them out in a daily list or in a journal.

If, like me, you already do that, go deeper. Set yourself a challenge to appreciate more for the next 10, 20 or 30 days.

I was inspired to write this post after witnessing and enjoying a seasoned appreciator’s new 30 day challenge to appreciate not only what is or has been but also what is wanted – as if it has already occurred. Click here to follow Yogini’s 30 day challenge progress.

I’ll be playing along myself, starting today.

I’m already enjoying thinking of the things we often take for granted – the air in our lungs, food, shelter and sunlight and then … there’s the BIG STUFF, the world spinning on it’s axis in just the right location to support life as we know it, the stars, the galaxies, the wonder of life as we know it in all it’s forms. Our bodies, planet and Universe are pretty amazing places to be!

There's lots to appreciate

You can follow my progress on my 30 days of appreciation here at my other blog and also through my You Tube Videos, the first of which is below. Enjoy.

Now, I’ve read the books, listened to the seminars on cd and even watched some on DVD, so I knew what I was in for – great ‘leading edge’ information, mainly in a question and answer format, with participants asking questions and Abraham answering.

I was excited beforehand, to be a real part of it, not just listening months later. Yet, I had no idea just how much fun it would be.

The energy started to build in the morning when I read the instructions from the Abraham team, which included a reminder to ‘get into the vortex’ (= get to a feel good place) prior to the seminar – or sorting out any technical stuff to do with it. Great idea.

I also noticed that they had a chat room organized for online participants, which was to open an hour before the seminar began. Sweet.

My excitement grew as the seminar time got closer and I imagined the fun of being a ‘real time’ seminar attendee.

Well, the chat room was such fun. The chat area is to the right of the screen – only a small area of the page.

I’ve never actually been in a chat room before – and the posts came quick and fast, but it was just exquisite. People from all over the world – some in their pj’s, some in the morning, some in the evening – all ready and having great fun. There was music to listen to as we waited. There was such a feeling of fun, excitement and general in the vortexness – I was almost overwhelmed. It’s hard to describe. It was just such a party atmosphere (there was dancing and whooping .. and we really could feel it). I’m so glad that I got to be a part of it.

Then, we had lift off. There’s Jerry and Esther getting ready.

Now, we’re there – ‘Abraham’ takes the stage. (Abraham speaks through Esther – sounds weird, maybe, but it isn’t – trust me – it’s the most sensible talk going).

So, I had 3 hours of great Abraham time – with the chat room open during the breaks. It was just wonderful and I’d recommend it to anyone. In fact, I reckon we had more fun in anticipation in that chat room than the real attendees did before the event.

Even the Abraham technical team were great. Here was their closing message to us.

They say – ‘thank you for your presence today and your great attitudes. Your vortexy-ness helped us greatly. There will be many more Abraham LIVE broadcasts but there will only ever be one first. You are all ‘the first …. and probably ‘the best’ too’.

Even Sally, the dog, seemed to love the energy of it all

So, when’s the next one?

I’m ready
