5 tips for keeping your pets safe and happy this Christmas.

Today I’d like to share a few seasonal tips with you before winding down for the holidays. The image above is Baby ‘helping’ me do the Christmas decorating last year, she had a blast knocking everything down as quickly as I put it up. So, before I sign off to go and finish this year’s decorating here are 5 tips and resources to help you and your pet have a fabulous festive season.

1.

Keeping your pets safe.

Remember that chocolate is toxic for both dogs and cats, so if you have a Christmas tree, be sure that edible items ( including salt dough ornaments, which are highly toxic for pets) are kept well out of their reach.
If you don’t want your pets to miss out, why not bake them some doggie treats, there are plenty of healthy dog treat recipes online to choose from.

2. Appreciate every moment.

It can be easy to take our beloved furry friends for granted, a wagging tail, a purry rub around your legs. Soak it all in and consciously appreciate the gift they are in your life as often as you can.
Create the happiest of memories with them.

3. Keep in touch with your pets if you’re away from them.

I know that some of you may be away from your pets over the holidays and that isn’t always easy. Here’s a reminder of how to stay connected with your pet even when you’re away from them. I find it helps reduce any separation anxiety.
Also, as I suggest in the post, do tell them when you’re going away and for how long.

4. Help them travel happily.

If you’re bringing your pet away with you and they aren’t the best of travellers check out this article for some tips and a tap-along video http://ferrisjay.com/pet-happy-to-travel/

5. Remember those pets who have departed with fondness

.
If you are facing the first Christmas without a beloved furry friend, my heart goes out to you.
I’m there myself, having said goodbye to Elvie cat in August and now my dear Leo cat, only last week. It’s tough. They’re such a huge part of our life.
If you, like several people I know, including myself, are freshly grieving, I’d like to share an audio track I just made with you (it’s taken from a video that I haven’t released yet). May it help you find some peace. http://bit.ly/1XBCiql
If your loss isn’t so fresh, I pray you can remember your sweet friend fondly this Christmas and raise a glass to their memory.

I’ll sign off now and see you again in the New Year. May 2016 be wonderful for us all.

I will check my emails daily, and will respond to emergency requests over the holidays.
So, if you require my assistance over the holidays email me at ferris@ferrisjay.com
Here’s wishing you and your pets the happiest of holidays.

Thanks to all of you who have been part of my world this year and for being interested in my work and the information that I share, whether it’s pet health, helping your elderly pets or overcoming pet loss. I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thank you.

P.S. If you have a friend who could use these tips, why not forward them this message?
